The Heaters Baseball Club extended their consecutive no-hit streak to 11 innings in yesterday's 3-0 victory over Big Stone Gap Orange during first round action in the Big Stone Gap Minor League All-Star tournament. Three Heaters pitchers combined for the no-hit, shutout. Of the 12 outs recorded by the Heaters, ten of them were recorded via strikeout.
The Heaters offense scored all of its runs early in the game, scoring three runs in the first inning of action. All three Heaters runs were scored with two outs. With superior pitching, the Heaters strategy all along has been to score runs early and let their pitching take over. That plan was executed in the opening game of the tournament.
The Heaters advance to today's second round action where they will take on the Lee County All-Star team. The Lee squad was victorious over Pound 2 yesterday by the score of 10-0. The Heaters will be in action at least twice today. With a win, the squad will advance to the winner's bracket finals at 6:00 this evening. With a loss, they'll drop to the loser's bracket where games will be played more frequently. The first loser's bracket contest begins at 4:00.
