Heaters Topple Select

The Heaters Baseball Club took down the Tennessee Select 14-3 in today's coach pitch contest played at the Eastman softball complex.  The Heaters relied on some great hitting in the latter innings as well as superb defense to bring home the win.  The Heaters and Select played 10 innings of baseball in the game.

Early on, the game looked like it would be a defensive duel.  Something that is rare in a coach pitch contest.  Through 5 innings, the teams would be tied at 3-3 as both teams would watch as the opposing defenses would force the offense to go 3 up and 3 down.  But in the 7th inning of play, the Heaters bats woke up and scored 5 times and bat around their 9 man lineup to break the game open.  The Heaters defense was good to go from there as they did not allow a run after the 2nd inning.

Every Heaters batter would reach base at least once in the contest and would also chip in a play defensively.  It was a nice performance by the club on a cool, chilly afternoon in Kingsport, TN.
