The Heaters Baseball Club traveled to Jonesborough, Tennessee yesterday evening to scrimmage the Washington County Nationals (Jonesborough, TN) at Grand View Elementary School. The teams were able to compete for four innings before the game was stopped due to darkness. The game concluded in a 13-13 tie.
Both teams used the time they had to work out a variety of pitchers and work on the other aspects of the game. The Heaters used four different pitchers for an inning each with all four having success. Heaters pitching combined for 12 strikeouts in the game.
Offensively, the Heaters came up with some big hits and timely hits as 9 different batters reached base in the game. Five different hitters collected a base hit in the contest. The club made some miscues on defense that still need to be corrected, but progress was still seen in all areas of the game.
The Heaters will take on the Select team from Kingsport, TN on Saturday at 3 at Veldon Dotson Park in Wise. The two teams will play two, four inning games. Both games will be coach pitch.
